We started in a garage in Phoenix
In 2021 the entire company was the garage of a rented apartment. Then it was the garage and the backyard of our own house. Cold storage was one Coca-Cola cooler, and later two. There were two of us — Olga and Anthony Sheppard. We took the orders, designed the arrangements, drove the deliveries, and photographed every one before it left.
We worked out of that house for three years, earning the trust that a shop on a street gets for free.
We waited a year for a space of our own. Our son was born on 4 December 2023, and the lease was brought to the maternity ward to be signed. The keys came days later. We were in that empty room every day through the winter while it became a studio — the walk-in cooler, the shelving, the benches — with a newborn there with us.
We opened at 3031 E Indian School Road in Arcadia in February 2024. Nineteen months later we opened a second studio on the Upper East Side in New York. Two cities, still the same family business, and now a full team in Phoenix.
We Are the People in These Photographs
When you call, someone in the studio answers — a florist standing a few feet from the flowers, not a call centre in another state. When you message us, you are talking to the person who will cut the stems. Everyone on this page works here. That was true when it was the two of us in a garage, and it is still true with two studios and a full team.
What We Do Differently

Every arrangement is designed in the Arcadia studio. There is no warehouse and nobody assembling your order somewhere else.
We deliver in a refrigerated van.
Our van has a cooler built into it, so flowers leave our cooler and stay cold until the moment they are handed over. In a Phoenix summer that is the difference between an arrangement that lasts a week and one that wilts on a doorstep. Most shops here deliver in an ordinary car.
We buy where other Phoenix shops do not.
Most shops in the Valley buy from one local wholesaler, which is why they all carry the same flowers. We work with American growers and private farms, and with growers in Holland, Japan, Ecuador and Kenya. That is how we keep anthurium, protea, ranunculus, anemones and peonies on the bench year-round instead of only in season.
Same day, if you order by 3 PM.
Monday through Saturday, order by 3 PM and it goes out the same day. For Sunday delivery, order by 3 PM on Saturday.
When You Cannot Be There
Often you are not in Phoenix. Maybe you cannot get home this week, maybe you found out too late, maybe the distance is just permanent. You are sending flowers because you want her to know you remembered, and because you would be there if you could.
That is the part we take seriously. The arrangement goes in your place. The card carries your words, not ours. And it arrives when we said it would, because you will not be in the room to fix it if it does not.
We photograph every arrangement and send you the picture, usually before it leaves the studio, so you know exactly what you sent.
People Noticed
In 2023 Entrepreneur and Yelp published their first America’s Favorite Mom & Pop Shops® list — 150 independently owned businesses across the country, the cover feature of the July/August issue. Novapetal was on it — and at the time we still had no shop. We were two people working out of a house in Phoenix, with a Coca-Cola cooler for cold storage. The studio on Indian School Road opened seven months later.
Yelp gave us its People Love Us on Yelp award in 2024 and again in 2025. That one is earned on how customers rate a business over a year, not bought. The stickers are on our door.

The People Who Make It
What was two of us in a garage is now a studio full of florists, designers and drivers, in two cities. They are the reason we can promise same-day and mean it. Come by 3031 E Indian School Road and you will meet the people who made your arrangement — the same ones who will remember what you ordered last time.
Our son has grown up in this studio. He was two months old when it opened. He is in the shop most days now, and the flowers have been in the background of every photograph of him since.
We love this work. Five years in, we still open the cooler in the morning to see what came in.
